Student Awarded for Service Work

Anthropology senior Britt Taylor is one of 17 recipients of a 2012 Community Impact Award. Taylor is being honored for his service work and his efforts to solve local community needs, specifically to eradicate world hunger.

“We have the means to eradicate world hunger from our society,” Taylor says.

Putting his words to action, Taylor became certified as a Stop Hunger Now event facilitator — supervising meal-packaging events and training volunteers. He works as a teaching assistant in the Department of Communication’s Nonprofit Leadership and Development class while interning with NC State’s Center for Student Leadership, Ethics and Public Service and serving as a member of the Impact Leadership Village.

“Britt believes in the power of working together to get things done for others,” says Mike Giancola, associate vice provost for NC State’s student leadership and engagement efforts.

“He demonstrates that service to others is an important part of the NC State experience.”
