Three Honored for Global Efforts

Three educators received the Outstanding Global Engagement Award from the Office of International Affairs last week. Jayne Fleener, dean of the College of Education, Siddhartha Thakur, assistant professor of swine health and reproduction, and Qiuyun “Jenny” Xiang, professor of plant biology, were honored for their efforts to promote international research, teaching, extension and economic  development.

Other nominees were Tomislav Vukina, professor of agricultural and resource economics, Helmut Hergeth, associate professor of textiles and Yuntian Zhu, professor of materials science engineering. Winners were selected by the International Operations Council.

The award ceremony at the University Club included a poster session highlighting NC State’s global engagement.
