Budget Includes Extra Leave

The new state budget provides 40 hours of paid time off for qualifying state employees. This “Special Leave” has been loaded into the Web leave system in MyPack Portal. You can see your special leave accrual and usage-to-date by clicking on your “Monthly Breakdown.”

Like last year, this special leave must be used by June 30, 2014.

The special leave is available for leave-earning permanent state employees who were employed on July 1, 2013. The amount is prorated for leave-earning employees who work less than 40 hours per week.

Special Leave is not paid out upon separation of employment, except in the case of individuals who are immediately retiring. Employees who already retired on Aug. 1, 2013 (before the guidelines were issued) will receive a lump sum payout of unused special leave. The HR benefits group will be in touch with the leave administrators of Aug. 1 retirees to provide instructions.

Employees should contact their departmental Web leave administrators with any questions.
