‘Howling Counsel’ Advises Faculty

In the latest example of market segmentation, the popular Howling Counsel newsletter has launched a targeted faculty edition, offering timely tips for navigating various legal aspects of teaching and research. While the inaugural issue promises that NC State’s crack team of legal experts won’t actually yell at faculty, our graphics department insists the university’s evolving brand identity mandates bold images.

The first issue of the faculty edition, written by the Office of General Counsel, covers a range of topics, from using third-party materials in your courses to preparing for international travel.

“Dealing with situations that require specialized legal knowledge or resources can be challenging,” the newsletter explains. “Fortunately, many NC State departments are available to help faculty members navigate these and similar situations.”

In faculty-speak, “Even a Ph.D. needs a J.D. once in a while.”
