More Awards for Chancellor’s Residence
Inside and out, NC State’s 2-year-old chancellor’s residence, the Point, is earning rave reviews for its design.
The NC State grounds management division earned a 2013 Green Star Honor Award in the residential landscape category from the Professional Grounds Management Society. The Brick Industry Association also recognized the Point as “Best in Class” for a single-family dwelling in the 2012 Brick In Architecture Awards.
NC State’s grounds management developed and implemented a plan for grounds care at the Point, which opened to acclaim in 2011, to complement architect Marvin Malecha’s environmentally friendly design. The grounds program includes all aspects of horticulture outside the residence.
Winners included four grand awards, 22 honor awards and seven merit awards in a total of 11 categories. Winners were celebrated at a banquet in Louisville on Oct. 25.
