Annual Enrollment Begins Oct. 1
October is lurking like a sneaky goblin, and that can mean only two things: extra pounds from eating a bag of trick-or-treat candy weeks before Halloween and annual benefits enrollment.
Unlike last year’s major changes due to the implementation of Affordable Health Care Act, there are no significant changes to the State Health Plan for the coming 2015 calendar year and health insurance premiums for all three available state plans will not increase.
Staff and faculty still have three primary options through the State Health Plan: the Enhanced 80/20 Plan, the Consumer Directed Health Plan (CDHP) and the 70/30 Plan.
Those enrolled in the Enhanced and the CDHP can lower their monthly premiums with wellness credits for completing a health assessment and a smoking attestation and for selecting primary care physician. Those who participated in any or all of those wellness activities last year, when they were first offered, will have to repeat them again this year to receive the reduction in monthly premiums.
If you do not complete the wellness activities and are currently enrolled in the Enhanced or CDHP plans, you will remain on that plan, but your employee-only premium will be higher.
NCFlex (dental, vision, flexible spending accounts, etc.) has now moved onto the same online enrollment platform as the State Health Plan. If you need to make changes to your NCFlex benefits or enroll/re-enroll in flexible spending accounts, you will need take action through the online enrollment portal during this annual enrollment period in October.
All changes in coverage will take effect Jan. 1, 2015.
More information about this year’s enrollment is available through the enrollment portal.
