Baker Named Top Educator

The North Carolina School Counselor Association selected NC State education professor Stanley Baker as 2014 Counselor Educator of the Year.

Baker, who teaches in the Department of Curriculum, Instruction and Counselor Education, will be honored Nov. 6 at the association’s fall conference in Greensboro.

Baker’s award nominations cite his dedication to students, effective mentoring, research contributions and tireless work ethic.

Baker’s research interests include improving training for school counselors, applying cognitive-behavioral theory and developing prevention programs for children and adolescents. He holds a Ph.D. from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
