Legends Return for ‘Throwback’ Event

Ever wish you could see David Thompson, in all of his Hall of Fame glory, suit up one more time in Reynolds Coliseum?

At age 60, the sky-walking Thompson may no longer be able to take a quarter off the top of the backboard and leave two dimes and a nickel, but he’s still the greatest player to ever grace the Reynolds hardwoods.

And Friday night, he will be there again, along with former teammate Tommy Burleson and a handful of other Wolfpack basketball legends for “Throwback with the Pack,” part of the annual tip-off for the men’s and women’s basketball seasons.

Some of those returning legends — including Chris Corchiani, Tom Gugliotta and Julius Hodge — will participate in a legends game as part of the evening’s festivities.

Both the current teams will be represented during the evening, while the men’s team will conduct a practice scrimmage at the end of the evening, capping a full evening of athletic activities in the center of campus.

The men’s soccer team will host No. 8 North Carolina at 6 p.m. across the street at the Dail Soccer Stadium, followed by the women’s volleyball team hosting No. 12 UNC at 6:30 at Reynolds. The “Throwback with the Pack” will begin after the volleyball match. Tickets for men’s soccer are $5 for adults and free for fans 17 and younger.

There is no admission charge for other events.
