NC State Librarian Honored

An NC State librarian has been honored by a library association for her contributions to the profession.

Maria Collins, head of acquisitions and discovery at the NCSU Libraries, will receive the 2015 Ulrich’s Serials Librarianship Award at a ceremony in June at the annual conference of the American Library Association. The award, given annually since 1985 by the Continuing Resources Section of the Association for Library Collections & Technical Services, will also be presented to a librarian at the University of California, San Diego.

Collins is recognized for her expertise and leadership in serials librarianship. She is editor-in-chief of Serials Review and formerly served as special editor for Serials Librarian. She has also contributed to an effort to build an open source platform of electronic resource metadata for libraries to utilize.

Collins is the first NC State librarian to be recognized with the Ulrich’s award.
