Athletics Honors Top Performers
The men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams collected five of the 16 honors given at the annual Wolfie Awards Monday night at the McKimmon Center.
Anton Ipsen and Krista Duffield were named Male and Female Rookie of the Year, while Simonas Bilis garnered the Men’s Performance of the Year Award after his showing at the ACC championships. Head coach Braden Holloway was tabbed Coach of the Year and the men’s squad earned Team of the Year thanks to a historic season in the men’s program record book.
Taking home the H.C. Kennett Awards as the top male and female athletes were two-time NCAA-champion wrestler Nick Gwiazdowski and record-setting softball pitcher Emily Weiman.
Cross country and track and field runner John Harwell and women’s tennis Elisha Hande were named the male and female athletes of the year. Harwell, who is double majoring in electrical engineering and business economics, owns a 3.91 grade point average. Hande, who is majoring in economics and minoring in German, owns a cumulative 4.0 GPA.
