Bid Farewell to Dean Malecha

All faculty and staff are invited to attend a farewell reception for retiring College of Design Dean Marvin Malecha on Wednesday, Dec. 16, from 4-6 p.m., at the Talley Student Union, Room 4280.

Join Chancellor Randy Woodson in saying goodbye to Dean Malecha after more than two decades of service to NC State. He has accepted the position of president and chief academic officer at the NewSchool of Architecture and Design in San Diego, California.

Under the leadership of the Harvard-educated architect, who arrived at NC State in 1994, the College of Design expanded its offerings to include a Ph.D. in design in 2000 and a Master of Art and Design in 2002. An undergraduate major in design studies was added in 2010.

Malecha has been instrumental in numerous initiatives and innovative practices that have elevated the College of Design to one of the leading design institutions in the country.
