NC State To Hold Commencement Ceremonies May 14-15

North Carolina State University will confer degrees on more than 6,300 graduates during two in-person commencement ceremonies, to be held at Carter-Finley Stadium at 7 p.m., Friday, May 14, and at 9 a.m., Saturday, May 15, 2021.

Media coverage is invited. Credentialed media should RSVP to Lauren Barker at lauren_barker@ncsu.edu, no later than noon on Thursday, May 13. Please include the name of the reporters attending, and which ceremony they will be attending.

During the ceremonies, NC State will confer 4,566 bachelor’s degrees along with 90 associate’s, 1,752 master’s, 199 doctoral and 96 Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees. Some students are graduating with more than one degree.

Students graduating from NC State hail from 52 countries and 44 states. This year’s graduating classes also include 866 first-generation college students, 127 student-veterans and 143 student-athletes. The class includes 26 Caldwell Fellows, 185 University Honors, 39 Park Scholars, 457 University Scholars and 62 Goodnight Scholars.

NC State alumnus Russell Wilson, one of the top quarterbacks in NC State football history and the 2020 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year, will serve as the commencement speaker. During Friday’s ceremony, NC State Chancellor Randy Woodson will confer an honorary degree on alumnus Jeff Williams, chief operating officer at Apple. Woodson will confer an honorary degree on alumna Ashley Christensen, James Beard Award-winning chef, during Saturday’s ceremony. The ceremonies will also include remarks from graduating students and university leaders. Both ceremonies will also be streamed live.
