Mohamed L. Mansour, global philanthropist, entrepreneur and NC State alumnus, will address the Spring 2022 graduates.

The NC State class of 2022 will celebrate their academic achievements during the spring commencement ceremony at PNC Arena on Saturday, May 7, at 9 a.m. NC State alumnus Mohamed L. Mansour, an internationally distinguished business leader, entrepreneur and philanthropist, will deliver the commencement address.

During the ceremony, Chancellor Randy Woodson will confer an honorary degree on Brian Harry, who studied electrical and computer engineering at NC State. Among other accomplishments, Harry helped build one of the first electronic mail systems for personal computers. The ceremony will also feature remarks from Anna Jump, who is graduating cum laude with a bachelor of arts in leadership in the public sector.

Mansour serves as the chairman of both the global conglomerate Mansour Group and the investment firm Man Capital LLP. He is also the founder and chairman of the Lead Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides funding to small enterprises operated by underprivileged women in Egypt. Under his leadership, the foundation has granted more than 3.5 million loans supporting women entrepreneurs.

Internationally, Mansour has been appointed to advise the U.K.’s national investments, Italy’s SDA Bocconi School of Management and — by presidential decree — Egypt’s Grand Egyptian Museum. In the United States, Mansour previously served on advisory boards for the George Washington School of Business and Coca-Cola.

He is a member of the Harvard Kennedy School Dean’s Council and sits on the advisory board for the Center for Contemporary Arab Studies at Georgetown University. He holds a bachelor’s degree in textile technology from NC State and a master’s degree in business administration from Auburn University.
