Nov. 3 Wellness Day Information

NC State Chancellor Randy Woodson shares additional information regarding the Nov. 3 wellness day.

NC State community:

As NC State begins our annual Red and White Week, I hope you will join in some of the many campus activities to connect with your Wolfpack and enjoy our special community. I especially hope you will find ways to take advantage of wellness activities and resources.

As a reminder, this Thursday, Nov. 3, is a wellness day at NC State, and no classes will be held. Instructors are strongly encouraged to avoid any deadlines or tests on Thursday or Friday. We hope this day provides students with an opportunity to take a needed break during a challenging semester.

Students are also encouraged to attend the State of Wellness Discussion and Open Forum from 6 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 1, in the Mountains Ballroom in Talley Student Union. The event, hosted by NC State Student Government, will share resources and invite discussion. Feedback from the event will be shared with NC State’s wellness committee and university leadership.

Campus partners are providing a host of activities on Thursday, listed here. From a relaxation station in the Wellness and Recreation Center to a WellRec Recess on Miller Fields to a guided walk at Lake Raleigh Woods and more, there are many opportunities for students, faculty and staff.

Every day, NC State offers a variety of support services for the university community. Information about the Counseling Center for students, the Faculty and Staff Assistance Program for employees and many other Wolfpack Wellness resources can be found here.

The university will remain open on Thursday, and we thank our employees for providing the critical services our students and broader campus community need during this time. As mentioned in a recent communication to faculty and staff, employees are encouraged to take advantage of wellness opportunities and resources on campus this week and beyond as their availability permits, including the Red and White Fest employee appreciation event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Miller Fields this Wednesday, Nov. 2. Supervisors are encouraged to work with their employees to ensure a healthy work-life balance and well-being, and to offer flexibility and understanding as job duties allow.

I encourage you all to use our wellness day to pause and take a breath. Take a break and go for a walk around campus. Check in with your friends and family. Please do what you need to do to take care of yourself and those in your Pack.

Thank you,

Randy Woodson
Chancellor
