NC State Announces Wolfpack Red and White Wines
Two new NC State wines officially join the university's licensed wine collection beginning Oct. 31, 2022.
NC State University announced today two new officially licensed wines as part of its ongoing partnership with North Carolina wineries. These wines are in addition to the university’s Hallowed Places Collection, which launched in 2021.
Shelton Vineyards in Dobson, North Carolina, produced the wines, which are available for purchase directly from the vineyard’s website and in its tasting room beginning Monday, Oct. 31. A portion of the wine sales will support student scholarships at NC State.
Wolfpack Red and Wolfpack White feature labels created by NC State College of Design student Josh Garrett, providing hands-on experience for students.
“Being asked to present my designs to the marketing team at NC State led to a back-and-forth process that was tangibly valuable, revealing both the challenges and rewards of crafting in the real world,” Garrett said. “It feels great to see this finished, especially when the final product is something I know will be enjoyed over many dinner tables.”
The first two wines in the university’s licensed wine collection were also produced by Shelton Vineyards. The labels featured two of NC State’s Hallowed Places: The Brickyard and The Court of North Carolina. The licensed wine partnership program, led by NC State’s Office of Strategic Brand Management, highlights the university’s strong connections to the state’s growing viticulture economy.
“North Carolina’s wine industry continues to grow, and NC State is a vital part of that growth,” says Chris Boyer, assistant vice chancellor of strategic brand management at NC State. “Our licensed wine initiative helps promote this important statewide business while also providing real-world opportunities for NC State students to work through the design and production process. We’re pleased to continue this partnership with Shelton Vineyards by introducing Wolfpack Red and Wolfpack White, featuring two quality homegrown NC wines, beautiful NC State student-designed labels, and affordable prices.”
Sales of all officially-licensed NC State products and merchandise support NC State student scholarships in the areas of need, merit, study abroad and athletics. Previously released NC State licensed wines have already contributed thousands of dollars to student assistance.
