Where’s the Wolf? Enjoying Class Outside

A Wolfpack newcomer makes the correct guess in the latest installment of our contest for NC State employees.

Yingchen He recognized the latest location of our furry friend instantly. It’s a spot she passes regularly as she travels between her office in Poe Hall and her classroom in Tompkins Hall: the outdoor classroom.

Nestled beneath giant magnolia trees along the Court of North Carolina, the outdoor classroom offers a break from the typical four-walled learning environment — as well as a place to sit and relax.

“There are often people sitting in a circle and chatting,” says He, an assistant professor of psychology. “When I saw the photo, I recognized the steps/seats in the background and the round table on which the little wolf stands.”

A relative newcomer to the Wolfpack, He joined the university in 2020. Her favorite thing about working here? “Wonderful colleagues and energized students,” she says.

Aside from the outdoor classroom, He enjoys spending time people-watching in the big chairs on the Court of North Carolina.

“It feels so nice to just sit there and relax, feel the breeze and watch others sitting, walking or playing on the grass,” she says.

For those curious about our “Where’s the Wolf?” contest methodology, we use an online random number generator to determine the winner from the pool of correct guesses after the entry deadline passes. Each winner receives an NC State prize pack. Stay tuned to the Bulletin for your next chance to participate.
