NC State Announces Licensed Wine Celebrating Reynolds Coliseum
NC State University announced today a new officially licensed wine as part of the Hallowed Places Collection, which launched in 2021. The third offering in the limited-edition series features Reynolds Coliseum, one of the university’s 10 Hallowed Places.
A toast to the 50th anniversary of the Wolfpack’s 1974 NCAA men’s basketball national championship team that played in Reynolds Coliseum, 1,974 bottles of the exclusive red wine blend are available for purchase from Shelton Vineyards in Dobson, North Carolina, beginning Wednesday, Nov. 15. A portion of the wine sales will support student scholarships at NC State.
“The third wine in the Hallowed Places Collection is a celebration of both NC State history and the university’s continued commitment to collaboration and partnership,” says Chris Boyer, assistant vice chancellor of strategic brand management at NC State. “Much like the famous teamwork displayed by our 1974 champions and many of the great teams who have played and performed in this historic venue, the continued success of the university’s partnership with Shelton Vineyards demonstrates the value of working together.”
The first two wines in the university’s licensed wine collection were also produced by Shelton Vineyards. The labels featured two of NC State’s Hallowed Places: the Brickyard and the Court of North Carolina. The university also partnered with Shelton Vineyards to produce Wolfpack Red and Wolfpack White in 2022.
As with all of the previous wines, the label, which features the university’s iconic Reynolds Coliseum, was designed by a student in the NC State College of Design, providing important hands-on learning experience.
Sales of all officially licensed NC State products and merchandise support student scholarships in the areas of need, merit, study abroad and athletics. Previously released NC State licensed wines have already contributed thousands of dollars in student assistance.
