The Class of 2024, by the Numbers

More than 6,600 students will turn their tassels at our university's spring commencement ceremony on May 4.

On Saturday, May 4, North Carolina State University will welcome more than 6,600 graduates to the ranks of its alumni at its spring commencement ceremony. The event begins at 9 a.m. in PNC Arena. Media coverage is invited. Credentialed media interested in attending should contact Mary Cole Pike at mcpike@ncsu.edu with any questions.  

NC State will confer 6,994 degrees at the ceremony, including 4,935 bachelor’s, 1,659 master’s, 339 doctoral and 61 associate degrees. Many of the 6,667 graduates will receive multiple degrees.

This year’s graduating class represents 63 countries and 42 states. The class includes 779 first-generation students, 108 veterans and 94 student-athletes. More than 3,200 graduates will receive their degrees with honors, including 1,374 summa cum laude, 1,001 magna cum laude and 874 cum laude. The class also includes 31 Caldwell Fellows, 47 Park Scholars, 95 Goodnight Scholars, 430 University Scholars and 239 University Honors students.

Graduates and their guests will hear from speakers at the ceremony including Nobel Prize-winning chemist David W. C. MacMillan, who will deliver the commencement address. Benjamin Poovey, who is graduating with a bachelor of science in business administration, will also address spring graduates.
