Reminding You of Next Week’s Wellness Day

Chancellor Randy Woodson shares resources with students, faculty and staff ahead of the university's scheduled wellness day on Tuesday, Feb. 11.

Hello, Wolfpack community:

The university’s scheduled wellness days are more than just a break. They serve as an opportunity to reconnect with what matters to you and to find the balance you need to finish the remainder of the semester.

Next Tuesday, Feb. 11, marks our next wellness day, when no classes are scheduled. Faculty are encouraged to avoid scheduling deadlines on the day and deadlines or tests on the following day. Across campus, you’ll see a variety of planned events and programs for students to participate in. There are also several ways for faculty and staff to enjoy the day. Whether it’s painting, taking a trip to the zoo or spending some time exploring our expansive grounds, there is a way for everyone to unwind.

For those new to our university, in the spring of 2023, the Student Mental Health Task Force recommended proactive wellness days be added to the academic calendar. We have implemented this recommendation, along with many others brought forth by the task force’s report, to strengthen the comprehensive support we offer students, including NC State becoming a JED campus.

Our students, faculty and staff are essential to driving these important initiatives forward. I’m proud to be a part of a community that continues to find ways to support the well-being of our colleagues and our friends.

As you face challenges that the semester may bring, taking time to care for yourself can help fuel your success. I encourage you to use the day — and the weeks ahead — to reflect on how you can prioritize wellness.

Thank you for continuing to care for yourselves and one another.
