We’re Halfway There, Wolfpack

Chancellor Kevin Howell shares a mid-semester message with the NC State community.

Good morning,

As we head into the weekend and a well-deserved fall break from classes, I want to thank you for your hard work to make this semester a success so far. In reflecting on the first few months of this academic year, I’m so proud of all we’ve accomplished and the impact we’re making.

Last month, we announced the expansion of our transfer pipeline through Wolfpack Connect, a program that guarantees admission to students from community college partners across the state. This program reinforces our commitment to providing more affordable, accessible pathways to NC State degrees for North Carolinians.

As we reflect on the one-year anniversary of Hurricane Helene, outreach and recovery efforts continue. Over the course of many months, NC State Extension agents have worked alongside local residents to salvage crops, clean storm debris and provide counselors for those affected. We cannot thank them enough.

We celebrated alumni and friends for their service and contributions to the university’s growth at the first-ever NC State Honors event. The evening brought together various annual award ceremonies for one night of extraordinary recognition in the spirit of service.

These examples are just a small sample of the ways our community continues to Think and Do in support of the world around us. Each of you contribute to our success as a Pack, and I’m grateful for all you do to keep us moving forward.

Students, whether you plan to stay close to campus or travel over the break, I hope you’ll take advantage of the time to rest, reset and prepare to finish strong. There are many resources available to help support all aspects of your time at NC State. I encourage you to explore these resources — and to keep building community and connection as we enter the second half of the fall semester.

There is much to be excited about in the weeks ahead. I hope to see many of you at Red and White Week celebrations and events later this month.

Thank you, and go Pack!
