Critical, Creative Thinkers Needed April 12

Share your insights on critical and creative thinking at a campus dialogue Thursday, April 12 about the Quality Enhancement Plan, part of NC State’s 2014 reaccreditation through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

The session begins at 2 p.m. in the McKimmon Center with remarks from Provost Warwick Arden and Sarah Ash, chair of the QEP plan to plan committee.

Marshall Brain, a member of NC State’s Academy of Outstanding Teachers and founder of the website How Stuff Works, will discuss the importance of critical and creative thinking in student learning. His comments will set the stage for small group discussions of the topic, including possible improvements and strategies.

Ash said the goal is to raise campus awareness of the Quality Enhancement Plan and identify natural leaders with experience and knowledge about critical and creative thinking.  “There’s no way of telling what kind of expertise and good ideas will surface.”

The session will conclude at 4:30 p.m. Refreshments will be provided.
