Textiles Disability Program Recognized

The Alliance of Disability Advocates honored NC State’s Textile Products for People with Disabilities program for removing barriers in the community.

Faculty in the College of Textiles accepted the Triangle Access Award during a July 22 reception at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences.

The goal of Textile Products for People with Disabilities is to invent new products and services and improve existing ones, while encouraging companies to meet the needs of disabled people. At a May open house, upper-level students presented prototypes of products designed for people with disabilities, ranging from a more comfortable wheelchair to a new shoe-tying system.
