According to the authors of a study from Raleigh, North Carolina, “Ceruloplasmin (Cp) is a ferroxidase important to the regulation of both systemic and intracellular iron levels. Cp has a critical role in iron metabolism in the brain and retina as shown in patients with aceruloplasminemia and in Cp-/-hep-/y mice where iron accumulates and neural and retinal degeneration ensue… J.
