Smith Elected Chairman
Clarence L. Smith, assistant head and alumni distinguished undergraduate professor of the Edward P. Fitts Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, was elected to a one-year term as chairman of the North Carolina State Board of Refrigeration Examiners. The board is responsible for licensing, oversight and discipline of refrigeration contractors and transport refrigeration contractors.
Smith serves as a representative of an engineering school in the UNC system. He previously served from 1987 to 1999, including a term as chairman in 1996. His current appointment runs through the end of 2010.
