Civil Rights Leader to Speak at NC State’s MLK Commemoration

Harvard professor and civil rights leader Lani Guinier will be the keynote speaker at North Carolina State University’s annual Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration on Wednesday, Jan. 13, from noon until 1 p.m. in Stewart Theatre.

Media coverage of the event is invited. Stewart Theatre is located in the Talley Student Center on Cates Avenue, near the intersection with Morrill Drive.

Guinier is the former head of the voting rights project at the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, and served in the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division during the Carter administration. She is also the author of Lift Every Voice: Turning a Civil Rights Setback into a New Vision of Social Justice.
