The Holladay Medal is named for Col. Alexander Quarles Holladay, the university’s first president. It recognizes the contributions of faculty members in teaching, research and service. Winners receive a medal and a framed certificate, and their names are inscribed on a plaque in the NC State Faculty Senate chambers.

Davidian has served NC State for more than 20 years, during which time she has made numerous, significant contributions to the theory and practice of statistics as it applies to challenges in the health sciences. In 2009, she was selected for the Committee of Presidents of Statistical Societies G.W. Snedecor Award – which honors an individual who was instrumental in the development of statistical theory in biometry.

Davidian is an elected Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Statistical Association and the Institute of Mathematical Statistics, and an elected ordinary member of the International Statistical Institute. In addition, Davidian is an adjunct professor in the Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics at Duke University, where she is in residence one day per week engaging in collaborative research on cardiovascular disease with scientists at Duke Clinical Research Institute. She serves as the executive editor for the journal, Biometrics, the premier scholarly publication reporting on statistical methodology relevant to the biological sciences.
