NC State, UNC Partner on Temp Service

A new partnership will extend NC State’s temporary staffing service to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

University Targeted Staffing (UTS) has helped find professional and support staff for temporary assignments at NC State since the 1980s. The service helps departments cope with emergencies, vacancies, special projects, seasonal needs, workload surges and leaves of absence.

UTS can administer the hiring process, from recruiting and interviewing to orientation and payroll processing. The group provides a full range of services, including employee counseling and unemployment claim administration.

Sharing administrative resources will allow both campuses to benefit from economy of scale and work with qualified candidates across the entire Triangle region, said Barbara Carroll, associate vice chancellor for human resources.

The UNC campus had been without a temp service since the closure of Tar Heel Temps earlier this year, according to the University Gazette. UTS plans to expand service to Chapel Hill this month. For more information, contact Lise Bireline, UTS manager, at 515-1010.
