Bullard Explores Educational Frontiers

Dr. Lisa G. Bullard is among of 53 of the nation’s most innovative young engineering educators selected to take part in the National Academy of Engineering’s Frontiers of Engineering Education symposium Dec. 13-16 in Irvine, Calif.

Bullard, a teaching associate professor and director of undergraduate studies in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, will join early career faculty members from a variety of engineering disciplines. The group will share ideas, research and best practices in education.

This year’s program will focus on helping students learn engineering fundamentals, keep up with  technology and master the skills necessary to be an effective engineer or engineering researcher. Attendees were nominated by fellow engineers or deans and selected from a pool of applicants.

Bullard, who joined the NC State faculty in 2000, has received many awards, including Chemical Engineering Education’s Ray W. Fahien Award, the NC State Outstanding Teacher Award, the George H. Blessis Outstanding Undergraduate Adviser Award and the NC State Faculty Advising Award.

She earned a B.S. in chemical engineering from NC State in 1986 and a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from Carnegie Mellon University in 1991.
