NC State Selects Hotel Project For Hillsborough Street

North Carolina State University has selected a local real estate development team to develop a mixed-use project across from the Memorial Bell Tower as part of continuing effort to revitalize Hillsborough Street.

A proposal submitted by Bell View Partners and The Bernstein Companies was chosen from four responses to the Request For Proposals issued in April. The project as proposed will include a 125-room premium hotel that will cater to university and Raleigh visitors. The hotel will be complemented by street-level retail shops and a signature restaurant. Bell View and Bernstein will develop and manage the hotel property.

“This is a big step forward in the continuing effort to make Hillsborough Street a destination for the greater community,” said Ralph Recchie, NC State’s director of real estate.

Last year, the City of Raleigh completed  a $10 million project to revitalize Hillsborough Street by adding more street parking and creating traffic circles designed to improve traffic flow.

The new hotel will be located on Hillsborough Street between Enterprise Street and Maiden Lane on a 1.3-acre site currently owned by the University Endowment Fund. The project will also encompass the Hillsborough Square parking lot next to David’s Dumplings and Players Retreat, as well as the former location of Darryl’s restaurant.
