Sign Up for a Free Flu Shot

State Health Plan members, dependents and retirees can get free flu shots at campus clinics this fall.

Sign up online for an appointment. The first clinic will be Friday, Sept. 23, with shots offered at locations across campus through mid-November.

Bring your State Health Plan card and a photo ID to your appointment.

Vaccinations cost $30 for those who are not covered by the State Health Plan or another Blue Cross/Blue Shield of North Carolina plan. Payment options are cash, check or Medicare Part B (no co-pay required).

To receive a flu shot, children must be at least 9, and those between the ages of 9 and 17 must have a parent or guardian present. Pregnant women in the first trimester must have a prescription to receive the flu shot; women in their second or third trimester may receive the flu vaccination without a prescription.

If you have any concerns about the side effects of the flu vaccine or whether you should take the shot, consult your physician. Check the Centers for Disease Control website for more flu information.
