Giving Campaign Closing in on Goal

Don’t wait till the last minute to join the Wolfpack Gives Back campaign, NC State’s annual effort to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for charity. With just two weeks left, the campaign needs everyone’s help to reach—and exceed—its goal for 2011.

So far, more than 1,500 employees have donated more than $400,000 to the effort, which is part of the State Employees Combined Campaign. That puts the university more than halfway to the goal of 40 percent participation envisioned by Chancellor Randy Woodson when he kicked off the fundraiser last month.

Last year, NC State employees raised nearly $580,000 for hundreds of nonprofit organizations working to support social services, the arts, health care, educational programs, disaster relief and job training.

“The NC State community has always come through, even in tough economic times,” said campaign chairman Nevin Kessler, vice chancellor for university advancement. “Many in our community are unemployed and struggling just to put food on the table and heat their homes. I encourage you to help those in need by making a commitment to the Wolfpack Gives Back campaign.”

Employees can visit the new online giving site to arrange a monthly payroll deduction or to use a credit card. To donate by cash or check you have to fill out a form and submit it to your unit’s team captain. You can search for charities at the state campaign site.
