NC State Shelton Forum to Focus on Entrepreneurship, Innovation

Broadcaster and author Tom Brokaw, Red Hat CEO Jim Whitehurst and Gazelles Inc. founder and CEO Verne Harnish will serve as featured speakers at North Carolina State University’s General Hugh Shelton Leadership Forum on Friday, Nov. 18, at the McKimmon Center.

The one-day forum, celebrating its 10th anniversary, centers this year on “Promoting Innovation and Entrepreneurship: A Values-Based Leadership Approach.”

Whitehurst will speak about leadership in the information age from 8:45 to 10 a.m. Harnish will speak from 10:15 to 11 a.m. Brokaw will talk about the greatest generation from 11 a.m. to noon.

An afternoon session on living the entrepreneurial dream will include Harnish and other local entrepreneurs who will share their success stories. That session will be held from 2 to 3 p.m.

The cost of attending the forum is $189 and includes lunch.

The Shelton Leadership Forum is an annual seminar series that focuses attention on the importance of leadership development. The forum is one program offering of the General Hugh Shelton Leadership Center administered by NC State’s Office of the Provost. As executive director, Shelton is committed to developing values-based leadership skills to enhance corporate, government, education, nonprofit and youth-development organizations.
