Two Appointees Named to NC State Board of Trustees
Randall C. “Randy” Ramsey and Wendell H. Murphy have been appointed to the North Carolina State University Board of Trustees by Gov. Pat McCrory.
Ramsey was first appointed to the board in 2009. He is founder and president of Jarrett Bay Boatworks, a company specializing in the manufacture and repair of sport fishing vessels. He is also a principal of Bluewater Yacht Sales, an authorized sales and service dealer of sport fishing and motor yachts, and broker for pre-owned vessels. He is a member and former president of the Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament Board and a member of the N.C. Manufacturers Association.
Ramsey served in multiple leadership roles for the NC State Student Aid Association and continues to serve on the board. He is currently a member of the NC State Alumni Association and the State Club.
Murphy served previously on the board, including a term as chair. His current appointment runs through 2017. He is chairman and CEO emeritus of Murphy Family Farms Inc. He has served in both the N.C. Senate and the N.C. House of Representatives.
Murphy is former chair of the university’s Endowment Board. He was also a member of the Achieve Campaign Steering and Executive Committee. He earned his bachelor’s degree in education from NC State in 1960.
The board of trustees is composed of 13 members: eight elected by the UNC Board of Governors, four appointed by the governor and the president of the student body.
