Four Honored at Sisterhood Dinner
Four NC State women were honored at the Equity for Women Awards last month for their efforts to support and empower women on campus. The awards, presented by the Council on the Status of Women at the 2014 Sisterhood Dinner, are given annually following a university-wide nominating process.
This year’s lifetime achievement award was presented to Deborah Hooker, teaching associate professor of English and director of women’s and gender studies. She was lauded for her support of the Women of Welch Village. Read the complete nomination profile online.
The student award was presented to Suzanne Martin, a graduate student who is president of the social work honor society Phi Alpha and a member of the social work department’s advisory board and committee on diversity, recruitment and retention. Read the complete nomination profile online.
The staff award was presented to Shaefny Grays, assistant director of the community for diversity in the College of Natural Resources.
