NC State Named to Healthy 15
A food service industry magazine praised NC State for its innovative dining programs that help students, faculty and staff make healthy eating choices. The Healthy 15 list, announced by Foodservice Director magazine this month, showcases dining operations that create a healthy food service environment for both employees and guests.
In addition to NC State, the list includes dining operations at Rex Healthcare, the University of Georgia, the World Bank and Chelsea Senior Living, among others.
The publication’s website said NC State was named to the list for its sophisticated menu development process that results in “accurate recipe testing, nutritional data collection and reporting, accurate ingredient cost data and menu management.”
It also praised a number of innovative programs developed at NC State, such as Fresh Start Mondays, food sampling stations, a peer education program called Eat Smart/Cook Smart and the “Wolf Approved” stickers on healthy foods.
