April Fool’s!

Harrelson Hall, due for demolition in 2016 or 2017.
Harrelson Hall: not actually slated to become luxury student housing.

You got roundly hoaxed—just like that time when you were a freshman and asked some seniors how to get to your class in Harrelson Hall and they said “You can’t miss it.”

Plans to demolish the iconic cylindrical building — the first of its shape on any college campus — are currently scheduled for the summer of 2016, though it could be delayed by a year if other current projects on central campus take longer than expected.

After the building is torn down, there will be a green space in its footprint until funding is available for a signature science building, which is a top priority on the university’s capital projects list. The Science Commons building will be located on the southern edge of the Brickyard and will serve as a space for interdisciplinary collaboration.

Sadly, however, it will offer no upscale pie-wedge apartments for student housing.
