Cyrus, Boykin Lauded by Omega Psi Phi
NC State student body president Khari Cyrus and Omega Psi Phi fraternity advisor Michael Boykin were recently honored at the fraternity’s 2015 International Leadership Conference in Jacksonville, Florida.
Cyrus is the past president of the fraternity’s Kappa Lamba chapter at NC State. A senior Park Scholar, Cyrus owns a 3.35 grade point average in political science. Elected student body president in the spring, Cyrus has been a two-time legislative intern in Washington, D.C., for former Sen. Kay Hagan and Rep. G.K. Butterfield. He has received numerous awards for his scholastic achievements, community service and leadership.
Boykin, who has been the Kappa Lambda chapter advisor since 1997, was awarded the International Chapter Advisor Award for mentoring chapter members and serving as a role model.
For the last two years under Boykin’s guidance, two different members of the Kappa Lambda chapter have received the International Herman Dreer Scholarship and Leadership Award. In the last five years, two members have been elected to Omega Psi Phi district leadership positions in the Carolinas.
The seven members of the Kappa Lambda Chapter have the highest grade point averages of all National Pan-Hellenic Council fraternities at NC State for spring 2015 with a chapter GPA of 3.05610.
