Save on Poole Play
The 3-year-old Lonnie Poole Golf Course is quickly establishing itself as one of the best in the region. It was voted the best new public golf course by the North Carolina Golf Panel in 2010, and one of the top 30 college/university courses in the United States by Golfweek. It’s no surprise, considering the strikingly beautiful–and challenging–course was designed by the Arnold Palmer Design Company.
If you’ve ever dreamed of mastering the course, there’s no better time to start.
For a limited time, the course is offering special monthly rates for frequent golfers, reducing the cost to about what you spend for your cable TV and broadband connection. But this investment pays you back in fresh air, sunshine and–if you play the game right–lower stress and improved blood pressure.
And think about the cost savings.
No Brainer
“If you’re an active golfer and you’re going to play at all, it’s a no-brainer,” says general manager Chip Watson.
Consider the advantages of becoming a regular on the Lonnie Poole course. You’ll have unlimited green fees, 10-day advance tee-time reservations and a 15 percent discount on all in-stock golf shop merchandise. You’ll be able to play at your convenience, as much as you want, without having to run the math in your head or worry about the impact on your wallet.
Plus, when friends come to town, you’ll be guaranteed to wow them on one of North Carolina’s most distinctive courses.
Special Course
“The word I always use is special,” says Watson. “This is a very special course.”
Unlike traditional courses, the Poole course is set among native plants that make up the area’s natural landscape. That’s because the course is used as a research and training facility for the nationally recognized Center for Turfgrass Environmental Research and Education at NC State, and as a “living laboratory” for research into soil science, pathology, toxicology, wildlife management, urban forestry, and water conservation.
The course is also home to the NC State men’s and women’s golf teams.
