Arumugam Receives NSF Career Award
Dr. Sankar Arumugam, assistant professor of civil, construction and environmental engineering, received a Faculty Early Career Development Award from the National Science Foundation.
NSF will provide $404,351 in funding over five years to support Arumugam’s research project, “Climate Informed Uncertainty Analyses for Integrated Water Resources Sustainability.”
Arumugam’s research focuses on developing streamflow and water quality forecasts to help manage water in areas such as the Neuse river basin. He plans to develop classes based on his research and to share his findings with agencies, institutes and nonprofit organizations.
He earned a doctorate in water resources engineering from Tufts University in 2001 and joined the College of Engineering faculty in 2005.
