Athletics Adds Security Enhancements

NC State athletics has developed enhanced security measures that will be in place for the final two home football games at Carter-Finley Stadium. Fans going to Saturday’s game against Syracuse and next week’s season-finale against North Carolina are asked to arrive early, leave bags at home and be prepared for longer wait times to get into the stadium.

While the Department of Homeland Security advises that there are currently no known threats against collegiate stadiums, the university is taking additional precautions for the safety of all fans, staff and student-athletes. There will be an increased security and law enforcement presence inside and outside the stadium, in the parking lots and in areas surrounding the stadium complex.

The following security enhancements impacting fans will be in place:

•    All stadium gates will now open two house before kickoff, a half hour earlier than usual, to allow additional time for entry.
•    Fans are asked to arrive at stadium gates at least 30 minutes earlier than they usually do to accommodate increased security screening.
•    Fans should be prepared for enhanced checks of persons and belongings, including opening coats/outerwear and emptying pockets.
•    Fans are strongly discouraged from bringing a bag into the stadium.  If a bag is essential, a clear plastic bag is recommended.  No bag can exceed 14″ x 14″ and backpacks remain prohibited, in accordance with existing stadium guidelines.  All bags are subject to search.Fans are reminded of that the following items remain prohibited inside the stadium:
