Goodbye, front-door parking spaces. Hello, students.

Traffic around campus might be a bit of a challenge from Thursday through Sunday as students return to campus for the start of the 2018 fall semester.

Unpack the patience pants as a record number of freshmen will be moving in, so the number of new students and parents doing this for the first time will be high. Help point them in the right direction.

Several parking locations will be closed for employees all four days: Baver Drive; the Student Services Lot near Harris and Pullen halls; and the Bragaw, Lee and Sullivan residence hall lots.

Beginning Friday, there will be no parking on Cates Avenue from the Talley Student Union to Dan Allen Drive. On Friday and Saturday only, there will be 18 reserved C spaces on Warren Carroll Drive near the Weisiger-Brown Athletics Building.

And Cates Avenue will be limited to one-way, westbound travel for move-in traffic only Thursday through Saturday.

Here are some alternate parking locations, as suggested by NCSU Transportation.

  • Dan Allen Deck
  • Coliseum Deck
  • Jeter Bays Lot
  • Carmichael Lot
  • East Cates Avenue C spaces in front of Derr Track/Dail Soccer Complex
  • Central Campus Lot behind Student Health Services

All traffic patterns will return to a new normal on Monday.
