NC State College of Education Ranked #27 in U.S. News’ Best Online Programs Rankings

NC State’s College of Education is ranked #27 in the nation in the 2024 U.S. News & World Report’s Best Online Master’s in Education Programs rankings announced Feb. 7. That is an improvement of three spots over last year and 19 spots over 2022. 

“Our continuing rise in these rankings reinforces the outstanding work that our faculty and staff have done to develop high-quality, inclusive and welcoming online learning environments for our master’s students,” said Paola Sztajn, dean of NC State’s College of Education. “It further shows our college’s commitment to delivering innovative solutions that address North Carolina’s need for more highly effective educators. No matter where students are located and no matter their background or their needs—whether they work full time and/or are caregivers, or have served in the military—we deliver a high-quality education that prepares them to be the extraordinary educators, counselors, leaders, trainers and other professionals our state needs.” 

This year, U.S. News ranked 303 schools across the nation that offer online master’s degrees based on five categories: engagement, faculty credentials and training, peer assessments, services and technology, and student excellence. 

In the 2024 rankings, the College of Education also ranked #1 in North Carolina and #11 in the nation for online education programs for veterans. The veteran rankings are based on accessibility to internet-based coursework, affordability, number of students with military backgrounds and factors related to academic quality, such as faculty credentials and retention rates.
