‘Two-Faced’ Particles Act Like Tiny Submarines in NC State Study

For the first time, researchers at North Carolina State University have demonstrated that microscopic “two-faced” spheres whose halves are physically or chemically different – so-called Janus particles – will move like stealthy submarines when an alternating electrical field is applied to liquid surrounding the particles.

NC State University Announces Fall Semester Dean’s List Students

North Carolina State University Chancellor James Oblinger announced that 6,412 undergraduate students earned Dean’s List honors at NC State during the fall 2007 semester. To make the Dean’s List, students must earn an academic grade-point average of 3.25 or higher if they are carrying 15 or more hours of course work, or a 3.5 grade-point average…
