NC State Partners in New National Science Foundation Center Dedicated to Domestic Rubber Production

The new center is entitled ERC: Transformation of American Rubber through Domestic Innovation for Supply Security or (TARDISS) and is led by Ohio State University.  The activities in NC State CBE will be led by Research Professor Greg McKenna, principal investigator (PI), and co-PIs Sindee Simon, department head and Distinguished Professor, and Saad Khan, INVISTA Professor.

Researchers Will Build an International Network of Networks, S2S-AccelNet, To Strengthen Forecast Applications and Services

Researchers from North Carolina State University, Columbia University, the City University of New York (CUNY), Texas A&M University (TAMU) and International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) have received National Science Foundation (NSF) funding to build an international network of networks (NON) to bolster forecasting that helps protect infrastructure and natural resources in a rapidly changing world.

Bringing New Life to Paper Streets 

The City of Durham has over 600 “paper streets” – narrow strips of land planned for use as a street, but never built. College of Design students partnered with the city’s Office of Performance and Innovation to bring new life to these previously underutilized spaces, envisioning micro-parks, art installations, educational outdoor spaces, and valuable pedestrian corridors.

Inside the new dairy barn on the NC State College of Veterinary Medicine campus, creature comforts include 15 industrial-size fans that knock 20 degrees off the suffocating summer heat and sprinklers that sporadically mist the milk makers as they munch alfalfa. The cows clearly are content with their new digs, and Dr. Allison West, clinical veterinarian…
