Off the Hook: Top Professors (3.1.11)
Today is the First Annual Distinguished Professor Lecture Series event. NC State students nominated more than 250 professors who have impacted their lives, and we'll hear from three of them at Stewart Theatre today at 6 p.m.
Off the Hook: Lead, Serve, and Find a Great Deal! (2.24.11)
Deadlines are fast approaching to apply for elected student leadership positions, and our part of the NCSSM-led, Guinness world-record-breaking canned food drive is right around the corner! And, did I mention that NC State has – once again – been named one of the nation's best college values?
Together We Can
Wolfpack fans can help a statewide residential magnet school shatter a Guinness world record by donating canned food during Saturday's NC State-Georgia Tech men's hoops matchup at the RBC Center.
Leading the Pack
NC State students honored two of their own during halftime of Saturday's 38-3 win over Wake Forest, naming juniors Chandler Thompson and Sam Dennis as this year's Leader of the Pack award recipients, in recognition of their outstanding leadership, scholarship and community service contributions to the university.
Chancellor Works on Sundae
Is a giant ice cream sundae sustainable? Not when you serve 2,500 free samples to everyone on the Brickyard. Watch the conspicuous consumption.
Rock Can Roll
In continuing NC State's mission to assist and serve those beyond the borders of our campus, Student Government, the Union Activities Board and WKNC 88.1 came together last week with a singular goal in mind - cranking up the volume to help a local food bank fight hunger across 34 North Carolina counties.
Leading Her Peers
Kelly Hook's election as student body president has been the driving force behind a positive shift in Student Government's ability to connect with the larger student body, as well as an improved relationship with campus administrators. For Hook, the sixth female president in SG history, the opportunity to give voice to her fellow students was one she couldn't pass up.
Honoring a Legend
The NC State Student Government is about halfway towards its goal of raising $85,000 to create a memorial for late women's basketball coach Kay Yow. The garden, called the Coaches' Corner, will eventually honor several coaches who have built championship teams at NC State. But Yow was the students' choice to be the first honoree.
Howling for Haiti
Emboldened by a mindset of global service and humanitarian aid, NC State students have rallied the campus community around efforts to assist Haitian residents, helping to provide resources to a country where water and food are scarce and rescue efforts continue at a frantic pace.
NC State senior Marquis McCullough isn't the type of person to sit around and wait for things to happen, so when he attended a pre-college leadership program held at NC State University, he found a campus full of like-minded students he could relate to.
