Woodson’s Installation Slated for Oct. 26
For Immediate Release
NC State celebrates the present during Woodson’s installation, set for 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 26, in Reynolds Coliseum. Gov. Bev Perdue, UNC President Erskine Bowles, UNC Board of Governors Chair Hannah Gage and NC State Board of Directors Chair Lawrence Davenport will speak. After taking the oath of office, Woodson will give remarks.
Two installation-week events will help place the past in context. The Entrepreneurs Lecture Series hosts alumnus Peter Lehrer, co-founder of Lehrer-McGovern, a building company that worked on the restoration of the Statue of Liberty and New York’s Grand Central Station, among other important projects. Lehrer will speak at 4 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 25, at the McKimmon Center.
Students will celebrate with Woodson with the “Chancellor’s Ice Cream Dream” on Wednesday, Oct. 27, at noon on the Brickyard. This larger-than-life Howling Cow sundae will officially roll out the new Chancellor’s Choice flavor.
NC State will also celebrate its strengths in research with an event on Wednesday, Oct. 27, in D.H. Hill Library’s Auditorium. The “Celebrating Faculty Research and Scholarship” event will feature Dr. Trudy Mackay, a geneticist recently named to the National Academy of Sciences.
Nothing says future like “strategic plan.” You can be part of the process by attending a town hall meeting at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 26, in Stewart Theatre. You’ll learn more about the nine task forces currently at work on NC State’s roadmap for the future. And you’ll be able to submit questions and ideas.
After all that heavy thinking, you’re invited to a 4 p.m. reception outside Stewart Theatre on Talley Student Center’s second floor. There, you can munch and mingle – strategically, of course.
In a final nod to the past, two of NC State’s rarely seen historical artifacts – the University Mace and the University Medallion – will be on display at the installation event. Woodson will be presented with the medallion after taking the oath of office.
