Rain Gardening Book Yields Gold

Two horticultural science professors, Helen Kraus and Anne Spafford, have won a gold medal from the Garden Writers Association for their book, Rain Gardening in the South: Ecologically Designed Gardens for Drought, Deluge and Everything in Between.

Kraus, whose specialty is nursery production, and Spafford, a professor of landscape design, were recognized for best technical gardening book.

They wrote Rain Gardening in the South to help students, homeowners and professionals interested in reducing stormwater runoff and pollution while creating appealing, low-maintenance gardens. It’s their first book, as well as the first book from Eno Publishers, based in Hillsborough.
