Sweet Deals

Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to celebrate with a little culture.

Surprise someone special with tickets to an upcoming musical performance, dance or theatre production. Thanks to NC State’s Wolfperks discounts for faculty and staff, a night out won’t break your budget.

Whether you’re a fan of the jazz of John Coltrane (this Saturday, Jan. 28) or the Celtic energy of Riverdance (May 25-27), there’s an event for you.

“You can find discounts for the North Carolina Symphony, Opera and Theatre and Carolina Ballet,” says Rob Stevenson, Wolfperks coordinator with the Benefits Office. “You can choose from Arts NC State events, the American Dance Festival, the Broadway Series South and productions at the Durham Performing Arts Center.”

Choices range from a sophisticated evening with Broadway’s Rent (Feb. 15-19) or a Kidstuff matinee featuring the theatrical exploits of Skippyjon Jones, a Siamese cat who imagines he’s a Chihuahua in Judy Schachner’s popular children’s books (Feb. 26). You can even save on a visit to the Contemporary Art Museum, better known as CAM Raleigh, where the Born Digital exhibit opens Saturday (Jan. 28).

Wolfperks subscribers can save 30 percent on tickets to Carolina Ballet’s Balanchine Rarities.

Daily Discounts

In addition to cultural activities, Wolfperks offers discounts on events from the circus to Carolina Hurricanes games, along with deals on dining, clothing, services and much more.

Stevenson says there’s only one caveat about Wolfperks: Some limited-time offers are sent directly to subscribers, and you won’t find them online.

“You’ll miss out on the short-term deals unless you subscribe to Wolfperks emails,” he says, noting that four back-to-back offers went out recently.

Sign up for emails via the Wolfperks listserv following the online directions. Vendors who want to offer Wolfperks discounts can also find information on the site.
