Gear Up for Google Hangouts

If you’d like to take your technology quotient to the next level, consider signing up for a couple of free training programs offered by the folks in the Office of Information Technology in the coming weeks.

The workshops, which are guaranteed to be fun and interactive, will give you the ins and outs of working with Google Hangouts, a free video teleconferencing tool that enables you to communicate with others on campus or around the globe via video, audio and text messaging. You’ll learn how to use the Hangouts platform to share your screen, share documents, add a personalized banner, and download apps that offer even more helpful features.

  • The first workshop covers how to use Hangouts on your laptop or desktop. It will be held noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, in Scott Hall.
  • The second workshop covers how to use Hangouts on your tablet or mobile device. It will be held noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, in the Avent Ferry Technology Center.

Sign up online and prepare to harness the power of high-tech video conferencing. It’s kind of like James Bond, without the Aston Martin.
