New Sr Vice Provost Named

A data analysis expert with a reputation for consensus building has been named the new senior vice provost for institutional research and planning. Mary Lelik, currently a vice provost and director of institutional research at the University of Illinois at Chicago, will join NC State in January.

She will develop and organize the new Office of Institutional Research and Planning, building on the expertise and expanding the capacity of the current University Planning and Analysis division, Provost Warwick Arden announced Tuesday.

“With her experience establishing strong partnerships with key campus constituencies to assess and support their information needs, I am confident that she will be a major asset to the university as we enhance our capacity to measure the outcomes of our strategic efforts and determine the best use of our limited resources,” the provost said.

In a career spanning more than 25 years, Lelik has held key positions at several major research universities.

She was director of the Office of Institutional Research at Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Ind.; assistant director for institutional research and studies at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville; assistant to  the director of the Center for Supercomputing Research and Development at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; and data archivist for the Social Sciences Quantitative Laboratory, also at Urbana-Champaign.
